Stage Three Geraldton Bridge
Update on Geraldton Bridge Restoration: Stage Three
The Cassowary Coast Regional Council is delighted to announce the commencement of the concluding phase of the Geraldton Bridge project in Innisfail.
Starting on Thursday 6 June 2024, this phase focuses on cleaning the bridge, improving its waterproofing, and sealing the structure to ensure its long-term resilience. The waterproof sealing is vital for protecting the bridge's concrete and steel components.
The anticipated timeline for this maintenance to be completed by Sunday 9 June 2024, pending favourable weather conditions and site readiness. To undertake this significant work, it is a requirement for the sealing product on the surface to thoroughly dry and set before motor vehicles can travel.
Anticipated impacts:
To minimise disruption to the local community a mix of night operations and a single lane closure will be in place from Thursday 6 June to Sunday 9 June 2024. From Thursday to Friday at 6 pm to 6 am a single-lane closure will be in place with an all-day single-lane closure from Saturday to Sunday. Traffic management measures will be implemented to ensure safe passage for motorists.
While Council strives to minimise inconvenience, we ask residents to plan their journeys accordingly and apologise for any disruption caused during the maintenance work.

Council understands the importance of keeping our community informed. Any changes due to weather or other factors will be promptly communicated via our Your Say webpage and Council's Facebook page.
