Council advertises all current vacant positions on the Cassowary Coast Regional Council webpage and vacancies are open to anyone with the necessary skills, qualifications and experience. Please review the information provided in the Advertisement and Position Description carefully to assess your eligibility for the position.

How to Apply

Click on the green 'Apply Now' button below, to view the Advertisement, Position Description and any other relevant information in our recruitment portal.

You should review the information provided in the advertisement and the position description, then submit your application in PDF format by the date the advertisement closes. Your application should include:

  1. Cover Letter (no more than 3 pages) addressing the Selection Criteria and the reason you are the ‘best fit’ for the role

  2. Current Resume - outlining your experience, relevant skills and qualifications

  3. Copies of your tickets, licences and qualifications relevant to the Position Description

The Recruitment Process

Below are the standard steps Council follows when recruiting:

  1.  Shortlisting - Hiring Panel shortlists applicants 

  2.  Interviews - In person or via Microsoft Teams

  3.  Reference Checks - Conducted by Hiring Panel

  4.  Pre-employment - (may include - Drug and Alcohol Screen, Pre-Employment Medical Examination and Functional Assessment, Criminal History Check) Note: Travel may be required to attend pre-employment assessments

  5.  Offer of Employment - Successful applicant notified by phone followed by an Offer of Employment Letter

    • Unsuccessful applicants who were interviewed will receive a phone call.

    • Unsuccessful applicants who were not interviewed will receive an email.

  6. Onboarding - The successful applicant starts their employment with Council, inclusive of Induction

Timelines vary for each recruitment dependant on a number of factors, including: 

  • number of applications and time taken to shortlist
  • availability of people to attend interviews
  • time to complete reference checking
  • pre-employment assessments (booking, attending and results processing time)

Council's goal is that the above recruitment actions can be completed within a 4 to 6 week period; from commencement of shortlisting to the issue of Offer of Employment documentation.
