Waste Transfer Stations

Cassowary Coast Regional Council provides seven convenient Waste Transfer Stations to make it easier for you to recycle and dispose of waste properly.

Each Waste Transfer Station has its own opening hours. To find the hours for your nearest location, select a station below. On public holidays, stations follow Sunday hours, except for Good Friday and Christmas Day when they are closed.

    Saturday and Sunday: 9am to 4pm

    This facility includes a weighbridge, transfer station, active landfill, recycling and tip shop. Items may be donated to the Tip Shop at the discretion of the Station Attendant; otherwise, standard fees and charges apply. A gold coin donation is required for item collection.


    It receives domestic, commercial and limited regulated waste.

Site Conditions

We aim to provide a safe facility for use by all within the community and take everyone’s safety very seriously. That is why we have a set of site entry conditions at all Waste Transfer Stations in the Cassowary Coast region.

Site entry conditions are as follows:

  • Wear suitable enclosed footwear. Bare feet, thongs, crocs or sandals are not permitted
  • Compliance with signage and requests of site staff is mandatory at all times
  • Children must be supervised at all times
  • Smoking is prohibited on site
  • Animals must remain in vehicles at all times

Failure to comply with these conditions could result in refusal of entry.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Many recyclables can be dropped off for free, but general waste, mixed waste and certain recyclable items may incur a fee under Council’s user-pays model. Fees help cover the cost of managing waste responsibly. Check the Fees and Charges page for details.

  • You can drop off household waste, green waste (like branches and grass clippings), recyclables (paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals), and some bulky items like furniture and mattresses. Some items may have disposal restrictions, so check ahead before visiting. Visit Recycle Mate website to find out what items you can recycle or download the Recycle Mate app!

  • Yes, hazardous waste such as, oils and paint are accepted at Waste Transfer Stations. However not all Waste Transfer Stations can accept hazardous waste. See above to see what your closest Waste Transfer Station accepts. If you would like to dispose off chemicals, you can register a collectioned with ChemClear.

  • Mulch is produced from green waste dropped off at Waste Transfer Stations and is offered free to domestic customers at select locations and times throughout the year. Availability may vary, so check with your local station for updates.

  • Yes, separating recyclables, green waste, and general waste before arrival makes the drop-off process quicker and ensures that materials are disposed of correctly.
