April 20, 2020 - THURSDAY: Post-Election meeting of Council to be live streamed
- New Councillors to be sworn in following Saturday’s declaration from ECQ
- Post- Election Meeting of Council to be held 9am, Thursday 23 April 2020
- Closed to the public, Innisfail Shire Hall equipped with live stream capability accessible to all residents
The Chief Executive Officer of Cassowary Coast Regional Council, James Gott, has called the Post-Election Meeting of Council for this Thursday, 23 April at 9am to swear in the region’s new Councillors.
In order for the meeting to comply with current COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, it will be closed to the public with the Innisfail Shire Hall equipped for live streaming to occur. (Pursuant to the Local Government Electoral ( 2020 Quadrennial Election ) Regulation 2020 ( Qld ) and specifically at Section 277E, it is advised that no member of the public will be permitted within the Council Office, including the Meeting Room at level 4, on the day of the Post-Election meeting.
All residents are welcome to access the live stream by going to Council’s website, cassowarycoast.qld.gov.au.
The Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) has declared results (Declaration of Poll) of the local government quadrennial elections, held 28 March 2020, with the following persons duly elected for the Cassowary Coast Regional Council:
MAYOR: Mark Nolan
DIVISION 1: Barry Barnes
DIVISION 2: Teresa Millwood
DIVISION 3: Trudy Tschui
DIVISION 4: Nicholas Pervan
DIVISION 5: Jeff Baines
DIVISION 6: Kylie Farinelli
In accordance to the ECQ declaration, the new term of Council officially commenced yesterday, 19 April 2020 however Councillors may not act as Councillors until having been sworn in.
