ANNUAL PRESCRIBED BURN PERIOD – Dallachy Aerodrome

Council is conducting a planned burn at Dallachy Aerodrome as part of the annual hazard reduction/ conservation management program for parks and forests.

These works will begin 23-27 September 2020. It is anticipated individual sites will be treated within five days, weather and site conditions permitting.

Dallachy Aerodrome will be closed for safety, with further updates to be provided on Friday 25 September. Council Officers will lay out white cross adjacent to the windsock according to aviation legislative requirements and carry a radio tuned to designated airport channel.

Neighbouring properties within close proximity to site may experience smoke and decreased visibility. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

Visitors and residents should close windows and doors, and keep medications close by if suffering from a respiratory illness.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads and across water, so it is important that motorists and boaties use caution when travelling around these areas.

Traffic control will be in place and there may be temporary road closures and detours for the safety of motorists, please follow signage, barriers and directions from rangers and traffic controllers and not enter closed areas.

Council is working in partnership with relevant community groups, Traditional Owners, Department of Defence, QPWS, DNRME and Rural Fire Service, with permits from QFES to complete these important works.

Council is committed to minimising the impact of the program on the community as much as possible. We would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding during these works.
