Gain hands-on experience and explore different career paths!
Cassowary Coast Regional Council offers unpaid work experience placements for school students, TAFE students, and job seekers. It’s a great way to gain practical skills and learn about different work areas through "work shadowing."

- Available for secondary school students (at least 14 years old), TAFE students, and job seekers referred by an approved agency
- Work experience placements are unpaid
- Participants will gain on-the-job experience and shadow employees
- Placements are subject to the availability of resources and department workload
- Some areas may require specific qualifications (e.g., Blue Card for Child-Related Employment or White Card for construction)

To apply, you must:
- Be at least 14 years old and a secondary school student, or a TAFE college student
- Be referred by an approved work experience referral agency
- Be covered by personal insurance and public liability through your school, tertiary institution, or referral agency

To apply for work experience, follow these steps:
- Complete the Work Experience Expression of Interest Form.
- Once the form is received and if a placement is available, you will need to provide:
- Work Experience Agreement Form (available from school or referral agency)
- Proof of insurance
- Proof of eligibility to work with children (if required)
- Proof of eligibility to work on construction sites (if required)
