September 22, 2020 - CASSOWARY COAST WELCOMES ‘THE GPS GIRL’

Back

Billed as ‘the only woman men will take directions from’, Karen Jacobsen is uniquely famous for being the voice of over a billion GPS devices including, Australia’s ‘Siri’ for iPhones.

To be held at the Innisfail Shire Hall on Thursday 1 October, Ms Jacobsen’s musical memoir will be the Cassowary Coast region’s first post-COVID public theatre event.

The show titled ‘Mackay to Manhattan – a Musical Memoir’ follows the story of a small town girl with big dreams who believes ‘it’s never too late to recalculate’ to reach your dream destination in life.

The musical memoir is performed solo at the grand piano; part concert, part motivational experience.

Cassowary Coast Councillor for Community and Culture, Trudy Tschui welcomed this announcement as a cautious step toward re-integrating the region’s much-loved theatre shows into Council’s calendar.

“Our Morning Melody events are always so popular and it’s a shame that we haven’t been able to host them throughout the pandemic restrictions,” said Cr Tschui.

“We will be taking every caution to ensure COVID-19 checks are in place for the event and encourage everyone who is keen to see this fantastic show to get in early as tickets will be limited.”

Tickets are $20 with a limited number available for purchase in-person at the Innisfail Shire Hall Council customer service.

To avoid line ups Council has divided tickets into three types with differing entry times starting from 9.45am.  No tickets will be sold at the door.
