Severe Weather Warning: Heavy Rainfall for the Cassowary Coast

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding. This affects parts of the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands Forecast District, including Innisfail, Tully, Cardwell, and nearby areas.

Weather Situation

A surface low off the coast near Cairns, combined with a high-pressure ridge further south, is bringing intense rain to the region.

Rainfall Totals:

6-hourly totals: 130–180 mm

Isolated 24-hour totals: 180–270 mm

Conditions: Heavy rainfall is expected to ease by Wednesday evening.

 Affected Locations

Coastal communities and islands between Cardwell and the northern beaches of Cairns.

Inland areas to the coastal side of the Tablelands, including Innisfail, Tully, Yarrabah, and Gordonvale.

Flood Watches and Warnings remain in place.

Close doors and windows.
