BoM Severe Weather Warning for parts of North Tropical Coast Issued 10:30am, Friday 7 February 2025
Cassowary Coast residents are advised that significant rainfall is expected over the weekend due to a monsoon trough and strong onshore winds. Widespread showers and thunderstorms may bring heavy rain, increasing the risk of dangerous flash flooding, especially with already saturated ground and full river catchments.
- Heavy rainfall of 140–200mm in six hours is possible.
- Isolated falls up to 250mm in 24 hours could occur.
- Rain will increase from late tonight, easing Monday morning.
Flood Safety Advice:
Remember: If it's flooded, forget it. For flood emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

- Slow down and drive with caution.
- Never drive through floodwater – turn around, don’t drown!
- Watch for debris, fallen trees, damaged roads, and landslides.
- If conditions worsen, find a high, safe place away from trees and drains.
