September 3 to 8, 2020 - Annual Prescribed Burn Period - Cardwell Foreshore

Back

Council is conducting a planned burn at Cardwell Foreshore as part of the annual hazard reduction/ conservation management program for parks and forests.

These works will begin 3 September 2020. It is anticipated individual sites will be treated within five days, weather and site conditions permitting.

Neighbouring properties within close proximity to site may experience smoke and decreased visibility. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

Visitors and residents should close windows and doors, and keep medications close by if suffering from a respiratory illness.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads and across water, so it is important that motorists and boaties use caution when travelling around these areas.

Traffic control will be in place and there may be temporary road closures and detours for the safety of motorists, please follow signage, barriers and directions from rangers and traffic controllers and not enter closed areas.

Council is working in partnership with relevant community groups, Traditional Owners, Department of Defence, QPWS, DRNME and Rural Fire Service, with permits from QFES to complete these important works.

Council is committed to minimising the impact of the program on the community as much as possible. We would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding during these works.
