March 26, 2021- TULLY AND RIVER AVENUE CARAVAN PARKS WORKS UNDERWAY

Back

Upgrades to Tully and River Avenue Caravan Parks are progressing well with caretaker/manager roles for both sites currently advertised.

Cassowary Coast Regional Council Mayor Mark Nolan said the upgrades to both caravan parks will ensure the region is well placed to attract new visitors to our region.

“Our region provides an experience like no other- away from the crowds where visitors can reconnect with nature and make memories to last a lifetime. Our regional landscape with natural attractions such as the Wet Tropics and Great Barrier Reef on our doorstep provide an opportunity for a truly unique visitor experience.”

Councillor Teresa Millwood said the announcement of upgrades to Tully Caravan Park had been well received and celebrated by many in the community.

“The advertisement of caretakers/managers (two year service contract) for both sites are open with applications closing Wednesday 31 March at noon.

“The new amenities block at Tully is expected to be fully installed and commissioned before Easter. The removal of the old amenities block and recreation room has begun and electrical upgrades and drainage works are scheduled to commence after Easter, weather permitting.”

Councillor Nolan continued to describe works being undertaken at River Drive Caravan Park by stating works are progressing well with camp kitchen upgrades now complete, upgrades to powered sites, caretaker residence and shed now complete and major landscaping underway.

“These works will complement the works currently being undertaken at Haddrell Park. Haddrell Park will cater for the self-contained RV travelers looking for a short stay with the caravan parks able to cater for travelers who require access to amenities such as shower and toilets or perhaps need a longer-term stay.

“I look forward to providing a further announcement when the caretakers/managers have been awarded and when both caravan parks will be open for visitors.”
