In response to the current COVID-19 clusters and increase of cases in South East Queensland, Cassowary Coast Regional Council Mayor Mark Nolan has instructed the CEO, James Gott to close the 8 April 2021 Ordinary Council meeting to the public.

The recommendation from the Council Pandemic Committee to the Mayor was the next Council meeting was not practicable for the public to attend because of health and safety reasons associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. On Thursday 15 April, the possibility of future meetings being open for attendance will be reviewed, in-line with the current Queensland Government restrictions.

This recommendation was made in light of the current COVID restrictions and increase of travel throughout the state over the Easter period and subsequent risk.

Council will provide a further update before the next Ordinary Council meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday 22 April 2021. Interested members of the community can continue to live stream Council meetings via the Council YouTube channel.
