Cassowary Coast 2024 MARKYT® Community Scorecard Now Open
Community Scorecards are being deployed throughout the Cassowary Coast over the coming weeks with residents invited to have their say on local services to guide future strategic planning for the region.
The 2024 MARKYT® Community Scorecard is being sent to all residential letterboxes in the Cassowary Coast asking the community to rate local services, facilities and programs. An online Scorecard portal is also now open with all residents over fourteen years of age encouraged to take part until Friday 7 June.
Mayor Teresa Millwood said the Community Scorecard process is a vital tool for empowering the community and enhancing the accountability of Council’s services.
"The Scorecard gives community members an opportunity to comment on local services and facilities, from festivals and events to local parks, roads, waste, safety and much more,” Mayor Millwood said.
“This feedback offers a platform for our community to voice their experiences, provide feedback, and contribute to the improvement of our services and priority focus areas for our future."
At the April 2024 Local Government Meeting, Council endorsed the deployment of a 2024 Scorecard following valuable feedback through the 2022 Scorecard which highlighted community priorities as local infrastructure, health services, economic development, and youth engagement.
“Since 2022 we’ve achieved significant outcomes as a direct response to the Community Scorecard including an organisational restructure and Advocacy Plan,” Mayor Millwood said.
“The 2022 Scorecard also led to the advocacy and support of primary health care services in Cardwell and Mission Beach, a review of our community grants program, the establishment of a Youth Advisory Committee and a future Regional University Study Hub.
“And through the 2022 Scorecard outcomes Council initiated an Economic Development Advisory Committee and subsequent Economic Development Strategy, as well as new skilling and recruitment practices focused on ‘Grow Your Own’.
“Community concern around safety from the Scorecard also led to an increased CCTV security network throughout the region, and regular liaison with Queensland Police Service.”
To ensure all feedback remains private and confidential the Scorecard is being managed by CATALYSE® Pty Ltd, an independent research and strategic planning consultancy that delivers this service for councils around Australia.
All responses are anonymous and will remain private and confidential. Cassowary Coast Regional Council will only receive aggregated results and anonymous free text comments.
Additional to the postal-based and online feedback portals, Scorecards can be completed at Council’s Customer Service outlets and Cassowary Coast Libraries.
