Cardwell Family Practice to Remain Open

Back

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is extremely pleased to acknowledge that the Cardwell Family Practice will continue to serve the community with uninterrupted primary health care services as the Townsville Hospital and Health Services (THHS) steps in to manage the practice in the short term. This transition ensures the ongoing availability of essential primary health care services for Cardwell and its surrounds.

The importance of the collaboration between all stakeholders including THHS, North Queensland Primary Health Care Network (NQPHN), the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women, Hon Shannon Fentiman MP and Council cannot be overstated in ensuring the continuation of primary health care services through the Cardwell Family Practice and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have made this possible.

Cassowary Coast Regional Council Mayor Nolan said we acknowledge all stakeholders who have played a pivotal role in making these short-term arrangements possible, especially THHS and NQPHN.

“We would like to express our sincere appreciation to our local members of parliament, for their commitment and support to Council’s and our community’s advocacy in response to the critical issue of the cessation of health services delivered through the Cardwell Family Practice.

“As we move forward there is still much work to be done to deliver sustainable long-term primary health care outcomes for Cardwell and our broader community and Council remains committed to working closely with all community, State and Federal stakeholders.

“Together, we continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of our community,” said Mayor Nolan.
