Growing Stronger Together

Cassowary Coast Regional Council has embarked on our region’s economic future through the Draft Economic Development Strategy (Strategy) 2023-2033.

The Strategy provides short, medium and long-term and actionable targets to foster economic development within our region.

Economic Development portfolio holder, Councillor Renee McLeod acknowledged the contribution of more than 100 members of the community, businesses, traditional custodians, and industry through the initial engagement process.

“Feedback provided by all stakeholders has underpinned the vision, principles, and aspirations in a new and exciting way, allowing us to create a brighter and more prosperous community.

“The Strategy acknowledges the value of our established industries and seeks to support their growth, while also promoting sustainable diversification for new and existing industries,” said Councillor McLeod.

The Strategy focuses on key industries and sectors that are high value-add and export-focused and will provide the environment for our economy to grow stronger and be more resilient through stakeholders, community, and Council working together.

Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Economic Development Strategy. The feedback period is from Monday 28 August 2023 to Monday 18 September 2023 and we invite community members, business owners, and other stakeholders in the region to participate in this process.

Council has provided a range of options to provide your feedback during consultation through Council’s Yoursay Survey, Community Pop Up’s, the Economic Development Advisory Committee, or alternatively via email.
