It's a Connect Fest, at Cassowary Coast Libraries!

Back

Connecting with one another has never been more important, which is why the community is encouraging you to connect and celebrate at local Cassowary Coast Library branches, this October for Seniors Month.

Reinforced by the continued theme of ‘Social Connections’, Seniors Month aims to increase the social connectedness of our communities, not just for seniors but for those of all ages. Simply put, it’s going to be a Connect Fest!

This month celebrates the contributions of our seniors, focusing on the essential roles that older people play in our community and helping people of all ages, cultures and abilities to connect through a variety of events, educational workshops, movies and activities being held at Cassowary Coast Libraries.

Cassowary Coast Libraries are hosting Music with Friends, workshops and drumming sessions at all four library branches during October, thanks to funding from Queensland State Government and Council On The Ageing (COTA) Queensland’s Seniors Month Grant.

Enjoy making and listening to music, followed by refreshments. A great chance to connect with people of all ages.

There are so many other events for you to enjoy, so why not head to your local library branch in Cardwell, Tully, Mission Beach or Innisfail, this October:

  • Protect yourself from online scams through ID Care presentations on cyber safety - sessions delivered at each branch of Cassowary Coast Libraries. All ages welcome.
  • Find out about Aged Care Reform at group information sessions, or by booking a one-on-one session, at Innisfail and Tully libraries.
  • Showcase your artistic talent at Innisfail or Mission Beach Library - Senior submissions welcomed for exhibition throughout October.
  • Enlist Library Tech Help with our friendly library staff - Book an individual session tailored to your needs. Your local library is here for you, whether you want to familiarise yourself with your device, create an email address, learn a new skill, or access free library eBooks and eMagazines, online audiobooks, or movies & music.
  • Join our ongoing programs, including movies, book clubs, mahjong or scrabble mornings.
