CYCLONE PREPAREDNESS: PRESERVE WATER

Back

Council urges the community to ensure they have sufficient and accessible water supply in the event that the cyclone causes damage to water infrastructure.

You can do this by filling containers with potable water for each member of your household, store (where possible) 3 days’ supply of water for each person accounting for both drinking and basic hygiene. Ensure containers are sealed tightly to prevent contamination or evaporation.

In the event Tropical Cyclone Jasper impacts the Cassowary Coast, we advise the community to refrain from using water for non-essential activities such as hosing sides of houses and to remove debris as this will put a strain on our water resources and the community’s need to access clean and safe drinking water.
