LIFTED: LEVEL ONE WATER RESTRICTIONS

Back

A Level One Water Restriction that’s been in place for a month has been lifted thanks to recent rainfall from ex-TC Jasper.

Cassowary Coast Mayor Mark Nolan extended his gratitude to residents for their efforts to minimise water usage throughout the restriction period.

“Please continue being water-wise into the future,” Mayor Nolan said.

“Council is allocated a daily amount of water for each creek across the region with restrictions imposed when water levels of the creeks decline due to dry weather, and it becomes difficult to draw enough water into its networks.”

To support and improve water security in the Cassowary Coast, Council continues to invest in several projects, including:

  • The Smart Water Meter Program– Replacing aging retail meter fleet with smart water meters.
  • CCRC Water Portal – provides public access to the CCRC Water Portal to allow residents to access live smart meter data.
  • Hyatt Street Reservoir Construction– renewing aging infrastructure and improving community assets.
  • Water Asset Upgrades – renewing aged water infrastructure across the region.
  • Education & Awareness– Community education and understanding of water security.
  • Water Supply Security Assessment – Partnering with State Government to undertake a water supply security assessment of the region’s water supply.
