Cassowary Coast Regional Council Mayor Mark Nolan said Council was delighted to have some of Council’s future leaders participate in the Rural Management Challenge held in Moranbah recently.

“The Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA) Central Queensland Rural Management Challenge is a great opportunity for Council’s future leaders to gain hands-on leadership experience and further develops their real-life problem solving skills.

“The tasks focussed on a wide range of skills from leadership to community engagement. It was great for our Council to have the opportunity to participate in such an innovative and practical training programme.

“Congratulations to the Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) team for taking out the top prize with Isaac Regional Council.

“We look forward to hosting the 2021 North Queensland event,” Councillor Nolan said.

Challenge participant and Administration Officer Elisha La Fauci said the team progressed through a leadership and team building program before the challenge day.

“The challenges pushed each team member out of their comfort zone and gave us a broader understanding of the various matters that each department and the Executive Leadership Team deal with each day.

“The program commenced in August and I was able to connect with staff from not only this Council but also across different Councils and build new relationships.

“The team were also credited with most colourful and creative group of the event. The last time Cassowary Coast won this event was in 2014 so we are proud to bring the trophy back to the region.”
