MAY 04, 2021 - COUNCIL PRESENTS JAMMED PACKED SEASON OF ENTERTAINMENT

Back

Surround yourself with passion, drama, music and fun as the Cassowary Coast Regional Council presents an array of performances across May and June that are bound to offer something for everybody.

Division Three Councillor and Community and Culture portfolio holder Councillor Trudy Tschui said she has already thoroughly enjoyed the various events that have come to the area this year and is looking forward to attending the performances across May and June.

“It is an exciting time for the Cassowary Coast as many more events and performances begin to come to the area and to see so many performances across two months is just fantastic.

“I have heard many great things about the upcoming performances and am especially excited to see how Opera Queensland combines opera and country music to create the piece of Are You Lonesome Tonight,” Councillor Tschui said.

Kicking off in May Are You Lonesome Tonight, features arias and songs by Puccini, Verdi, Slim Dusty, Troy Cassar-Daley and Dolly Parton to name just a few. This show celebrates all that Opera and Country music have in common and shares in the power of storytelling common themes of love, heartache and triumph in the face of adversity. Are You Lonesome Tonight is proudly supported by Beef Australia and the Regional Arts Development Fund.

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cassowary Coast Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

The next show which you will not want to miss out on is the Kings of the High Cs. This is a new production dedicated to the “Big Three”…Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras. It is their lives and their hits in one big show all in front of wonderful imagery on the big screen. But it is not an opera show…it is a whole lot more.

Bringing two shows to the area throughout June, one in Tully and the other in Innisfail, The Best of Bublé presents a spectacular show celebrating the story of Michael Bublé. International Front man and comedian Rhydian Lewis, leads Big Band “The Residuals”, to bring you one of the finest Tributes to this musical sensation. With sold-out shows a regular occurrence, be sure to book your tickets in advance.

The last show offers a forecast of fun, flashbacks and fashion as ABC’s revered weather presenter Jenny Woodward presents her charming one-woman stage show. Combining comedy, live music, video projections and a killer script with Jenny’s natural wit and charm, Weathering Well is a potted history of the life and times of the popular presenter who chalks up 35 years with the national broadcaster ABC.

Tickets are strictly limited and Council encourages pre-purchasing tickets early to avoid disappointment.
