Cassowary Coast Regional Council today voted to formally offer a contract to the preferred candidate for the Chief Executive Officer position.

Mayor Mark Nolan said interviews with the short list of candidates were undertaken on 4 June.

“A preferred candidate was identified from these interviews and Davidson Executive and Boards then proceeded to undertake further pre-employment checks.

“These checks have now been completed and I’m pleased that we are now in a position to formally discuss an offer with the preferred candidate.

“After an extensive and thorough process Councillors today unanimously agreed that the preferred candidate has the experience, leadership, and commitment to lead the Council and continue the great work undertaken over the last five years by the current CEO, James Gott.”

Councillor Nolan said there was a high calibre of candidates who applied- it has been critical that the appropriate process was followed to find the right candidate for the organisation.

“Once an offer is formally accepted, Council will then be able to announce the incoming CEO.”
