24 August, 2022- PAVEMENT AND ROAD REHABILTATION WORKS COMMENCED

Back

Cassowary Coast Regional Council maintains many roads and paths throughout local government area. To keep roads and paths in good condition for residents and visitors of the region, Council and contractors work throughout the year to maintain and rehabilitate pavement for the use of all.

Council has also heard from the wider Cassowary Coast Community through the recent community scorecard, with results demonstrating the community consider local roads, pathways, and cycleways the number one priority for our region.

Pavement and road rehabilitation works are scheduled to commence mid to late August and will take up to two weeks to complete, weather and site conditions permitting.

Pavement rehabilitation is a process where large machinery digs out the road to the required depth, and the space is filled with gravel and rolled. A bituminous layer is then added to create a new road surface.

It could be also explained as programmed, more permanent repairs rather than reactive pothole patching. This program has been developed based on the significant data that Council collects on the historical maintenance carried out on our road network.

The travelling public may experience minor delays and are asked to please plan their journey accordingly. All efforts will be made to minimise any impacts.

For more information, please contact Council by phone on 1300 763 903 or email enquiries@cassowarycoast.qld.gov.au.
