Cassowary Coast Keep Cool This Australia Day

Back

Cassowary Coast residents and families are invited to keep cool and splash out at Australia Day Pool Party events across the region.

Supported by the Australia Day Council and Cassowary Coast Regional Council, four local pool facilities will be hosting Australia Day Pool Parties, for locals to get active and enjoy a free community day out.

Mayor Mark Nolan encourages families to support the annual event with the pool locations offering entertainment, free admission, and a sausage sizzle lunch available for families to purchase from local community groups.

“We’re proud to support this event each year and with the weather heating up, our local pools are the perfect location for Australia Day in the region. Each location provides plenty of shade for sun safety for families to gather and enjoy the day out.” said Councillor Nolan.

The day’s festivities will commence with the Cassowary Coast Australia Day awards, which this year will be held in Cardwell, and will award locals for a variety of categories.  The event will also welcome our new Australian Citizens with a Citizenship Ceremony.

The Australia Day pool parties will be held on Thursday 26 January 2023 at the following locations:

▪ Innisfail Memorial Baths – 10:00am – 2:00pm

▪ Mission Beach Aquatic Centre - 10:30am – 2:00pm

▪ Tully Pool Facility - 3:00pm – 6:30pm

▪ Cardwell Pool Facility - 10:30am – 2:00pm

Admission is free for all pool events with entertainment and a sausage sizzle lunch available. Normal entry conditions and parent/child ratios apply.

The Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will be held at Cardwell Community Hall beginning at 9:00am. This event is open to the public.
