Funding Enriches Regional Arts And Culture

Back

The Cassowary Coast arts and culture scene is set to see a boost with four projects sharing in over $14,000 in funding through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

Councillor Trudy Tschui portfolio holder for Community and Culture said four local community projects will share in the funding from the RADF Major Round Two with cultural sculpture, visual arts and video projects set to enhance the region’s local arts and culture.

“While storytelling is at the heart of a few of this round’s projects, the format for sharing those stories varies enormously, from visual arts to video and cultural storytelling, we look forward to seeing the projects come to fruition.

Recipients of the 2022-2023 Round Two RADF grants are:

  • Mandubarra Land and Sea Inc – Cultural Sculpture
  • Innisfail Mini Rail – Club House Wall Mural
  • Innisfail Community Band – Building Music Capability
  • Mission Beach Historical Society – Short Video Series – On Djiru Country

“I encourage local creatives, cultural groups or organisations seeking a boost for their next creative project to apply for the upcoming round later this year.

“The RADF application process is very straightforward, and applicants can receive feedback on their ideas and the application process before lodging a submission.

“Also, this program would not be made possible without the support of the committee members who spend their own time engaging with the community and reviewing applications.

“At the June Local Government Meeting, Council endorsed the new RADF Terms of Reference and with that welcomed five new members to the RADF Advisory Committee.

“We thank the previous committee members who have concluded their tenure and congratulate the new committee members who will provide feedback and represent their diverse creative backgrounds of visual arts, dance, music, community, theatre and cultural heritage and development over their four-year term.
