A Vibrant Vision for Innisfail CBD Secured
Cassowary Coast Regional Council has secured the vision of Innisfail’s future through a vibrant and welcoming Innisfail CBD Revitalisation Master Plan.
Division Six Councillor Renee McLeod portfolio of Economic Development and Tourism, said the Innisfail CBD Revitalisation Master Plan unites the town’s rich cultural heritage whilst promoting economic growth.
“As a region, it’s important to envision the long-term future of Innisfail whilst also implementing short-term initiatives that can be activated and provide benefits for locals, visitors and businesses.
“During consultation, the community highlighted the importance of showcasing Innisfail’s character and charm, which has now been successfully embedded as the heart of this revitalisation,” said Cr McLeod.
Innisfail Stakeholder Reference Group Member Susette Birchley said I found the whole process of information gathering, mapping, and establishing where Innisfail ‘sits’ to be very beneficial.
“This has helped build my understanding of what is required to successfully achieve a positive outcome in projects such as the Innisfail CBD Revitalisation.
“When developing and refining the ‘Big Opportunities’ and ‘Short Term Initiatives’ the team ensured that all voices were heard and included.
“I am looking forward to our community taking ownership of aspects of the revitalisation to ensure our town regains its vibrancy and is a sought-after destination for tourists.
“This is just the beginning,” said Mrs Birchley.
The long-term opportunities highlighted within the plan encompass iconic waterfront precincts, cultural hubs, and revitalised streetscapes that are aimed to stimulate economic vitality, increase visitation and attract new investment. The Master Plan showcases Innisfail’s diverse heritage, natural wonders, agricultural significance and tropical ambiance that will work as a draw card for our visitors.
Council is committed to the implementation of both transformative long term-projects and community-led short term initiatives that will further develop Innisfail’s CBD as an economic centre of the region.
Council is looking to our community for a high level of collaboration and engagement with delivery of the short term initiatives through our shared revitalisation journey.
Council recognises and would like to sincerely thank the members of the Innisfail CBD Stakeholder Reference Group, community members, businesses, traditional owner groups, and schools for their participation in the stakeholder engagement process that has informed the vision of this Master Plan.
