If you want to hold an event, you might need a licence or permit from Council. This helps make sure your event is safe, fun, and follows the rules. We’re here to help you with what you need to do, so your event goes smoothly.

If you are planning works or organising an event that involves a council-controlled road or footpath area, you need to ask Council for permission before beginning.

Your event planning must consider accumulation and removal of rubbish during an event.
- Plan Ahead - Estimate attendees and where possible use eco-friendly materials.
- Reduce Waste - Avoid single-use items where possible, offer bulk food, and promote reusable items.
- Set Up Recycling – Where possible, provide clearly marked recycling bins.
- Manage Waste During Event - Monitor bins, train staff, and ensure proper disposal.

Filming and still Photography consent
Council regulates film production and still photography to ensure activities carried out are considerate, safe, and disruption to residents and businesses is minimised.

Filming locations and history
Cassowary Coast features a wide range of landscapes and seascapes that have featured in film. Locations include accessible rainforest jungles, rivers, islands, and beaches, with local towns featuring a variety of architecture. Popular locations include Tully Gorge National Park (jungle and river), Dunk Island, Innisfail (Art Deco), Cardwell, Mission Beach, Paronella Park, and various waterfall and rainforest across the region.
