Mission Beach Gets ‘Up Close’ with Big Machines at Community Celebration

Back

Mission Beach community came out in full force this past Saturday for the highly successful Gear up with Big Machines event, marking a fun and informative start to the school holidays.

Hosted by the Cassowary Coast Regional Council and Mission Beach Revitalisation contractors RMS, the event allowed families and community members to engage with the heavy machinery behind the ongoing Revitalisation project.

The event featured exciting attractions, including face painting, Easter bag giveaways, photo opportunities with the big machines, and a fun colouring-in competition. It was a fantastic opportunity for the public to learn about the work taking place in Mission Beach while enjoying a family-friendly atmosphere.

Cassowary Coast Division Three Councillor Trudy Tschui said it was wonderful to see so many local families come out to enjoy the ‘Gear up with Big Machines” event.

“This event gave us the opportunity to highlight the crucial role these heavy machines play in installing the new stormwater system, now halfway through construction.

“By the end of 2025, the site will transform, as landscaping works are undertaken, creating a green and welcoming space for residents and visitors alike. While these projects take time, they are investments in the success of our community.”

RMS Construction Manager Rob Barker said although the conditions have been challenging, our project team has been committed to ensuring that the project continues to progress in line with our original program.

“We appreciate the community’s support as we work through a phase of the works that involves a lot of interruption to businesses. It’s been great to put on this event and really engage with the community”, said Rob Barker.

Councillor Trudy Tschui said, we want to express our deep appreciation to the local businesses and the community for their patience throughout this revitalisation process.

“We encourage everyone to continue supporting their favourite local businesses within the Mission Beach area during the revitalisation. It’s the spirit of the community that helps Mission Beach stay vibrant, even through this necessary construction phase.”

As work continues, the community’s involvement and local support remain vital to ensuring the success of the Mission Beach Revitalisation, and the Council remains committed to delivering a safer, more resilient, and thriving town for everyone.
