SEPTEMBER 23, 2021 - COUNCIL ENDORSES ROLE TO HELP LOCAL BUSINESSES

Back

Cassowary Coast Regional Council Councillors yesterday voted for the creation of a ‘Business and Industry Liaison Officer’ role.

Mayor Mark Nolan said the role would encourage and facilitate investment in the region and will support both traditional and emerging industries. The role will also act as a catalyst to drive further employment and population growth within our region.

“This role is funded as part of the 2021/2021 Council budget. Council will now seek to advertise this role externally.”

The newly created role will:

  • Connect industry with government programs.
  • Advocate to increase the regions visibility and encourage involvement.
  • Drive Small and Medium Enterprise growth within the region.
  • Capacity building by providing access to best practice and industry innovation.
  • Connecting industry to school and VET system.
  • Provide local career pathway support.
  • Linking the community with the Queensland Government ‘Higher Level Skills’ program.
  • Build strong networks and relationships across industry and government.
