19 OCTOBER, 2022 - WATER, LET'S TREAT IT RIGHT

Back

As the temperature heats up, Cassowary Coast looks to cool things down and celebrate National Water Week by launching Council’s Water Wise campaign.

The Cassowary Coast is home to nearly 30,000 residents using 5,500 million litres of water each year.

Environment Portfolio Holder Councillor Jeff Baines said National Water Week presents the perfect opportunity to remind residents across the Cassowary Coast on how to be water-wise.

“Whilst the Cassowary Coast is recognised as one of the wettest locations across Australia, it is still important to remember to use water efficiently.

“National Water Week is about promoting awareness around the value of water and inspiring everyone in our community to recognise that every drop counts.

“By making really simple behavioral changes and choosing modern water-efficient technologies you can play your part in reducing water consumption in your household.

“Doing things like brushing your teeth with the tap off or switching your shower head for a water-efficient shower head can make a positive impact.

“Water is a precious resource and we all must be mindful and responsible in the way we use it,” said Councillor Baines.

“This week, I encourage all households to take one step to reduce their water usage and visit Council’s website for further tips and ideas.

“By changing some of your habits you can save water, save money and save the environment,” said Jeff Baines.
