Collect A Free Native Tree From Council Nurseries

Back

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is encouraging residents to build a greener tomorrow by taking advantage of Council’s free native tree giveaway.

The benefits of planting native trees are that natives tend to be more resilient in high winds, have deeper root systems and therefore hold up better in Cyclones. They are low maintenance and help support and provide valuable food sources for our native wildlife across the Cassowary Coast Region.

This year, the nurseries have a variety of six species to choose from which vary in their overall growth size.  Each resident can collect up to two native trees and add a native touch to their garden. Collection is from the Tully Nursery located at the Council Depot, Anderson Street or Innisfail Nursery located at the corner of Sundown and Campbell Streets.

Cassowary Coast residents must collect the trees in person between 8:00am and 3:00pm on either:

  • Thursday 23 April and Friday 14 April; or
  • Thursday 20 April and Friday 21 April 2023

Numbers are limited and trees options are limited to the six species listed on poster.

This is also a perfect chance to visit your local nursery and see what other plants are available to purchase all year round.
