Tully Westpac Branch to Remain Open

Back

Cassowary Coast Regional Council acknowledges the decision by Westpac to keep their Tully branch open as being a very positive outcome for Tully and the broader community.

Westpac’s decision demonstrates that they have listened and responded to community feedback and we thank Westpac for this approach.

To clearly articulate the impact of bank closures in our community, Council communicated with Westpac and provided a submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Inquiry on Bank Closures in Regional Australia.

Mayor Mark Nolan said “in forming our submission, Council engaged with representatives from our community and business sectors, and we sincerely thank community members for their contribution.

“Our submission directly communicated the potential and real impacts experienced by our community when a local bank branch closes.

“The 2022 Community Scorecard outcomes had Council’s leadership as a high priority area and Council is certainly responding to this through our community engagement, advocacy and actions.”
