Cassowary Coast Tourism Partnership to Continue

Cassowary Coast Regional Council will enter into a three-year funding and service agreement with Cassowary Coast Tourism to deliver destination marketing, industry representation, visitor information services and tourism product development for the Cassowary Coast region.

Under the new agreement, Cassowary Coast Tourism (CCT), formerly known as Tropical Coast Tourism, will see a boost in funding as they continue the operations of the Mission Beach Visitor Information Centre and take on the Tully Visitor Information Centre and the operation of the tourist Information Van known as the Ivan.

Economic and Tourism portfolio holder, Councillor Renee McLeod said with CCT providing for visitor information servicing and operating the Ivan, future visitors can expect a seamless service offering whilst exploring the Cassowary Coast.

“With more information readily available through technology and social platforms, the new agreement has a stronger focus on shifting away from traditional services and improving the region’s online presence reaching potential visitors when they are planning their holidays.

“A number of key performance indicators have been agreed upon including a target of one million visitor nights by June 2026.

“Council has also requested CCT to develop an Indigenous Tourism Product which is to be developed in partnership with our region’s Traditional Owners along with an annual marketing plan targeting increased destination awareness and visitation.

“Since 2020, CCT has been funded by Council to deliver sustainable economic growth in the tourism sector via continued tourism destination marketing and promotion.

“Establishing a new agreement continues to build on the region’s current tourism structure and resourcing to advance the journey over the next three years in line with Queensland’s Tourism Framework and also leverage destination marketing funding opportunities not currently available to Council,” said Councillor McLeod.
