CARDWELL AND SURROUNDS RESIDENTIAL KERBSIDE FLOOD WASTE COLLECTIONS SCHEDULED

This clean up is for residents impacted by the recent flooding event in Cardwell and Surrounds commencing 29 January 2025.

For residents who can’t self-manage their own flood related waste removal, collection of residential hard rubbish ONLY is being scheduled for areas most affected in Cardwell and surrounds.

Residents are instructed to neatly place disaster related debris from residential properties on the kerbside prior to the collection date. This collection is intended to make it safe, habitable and accessible, preventing displacement of the residents.

The schedule of household flood waste collections will commence with the below schedule:

  • Friday 07 February 2025 - (Midday – 4pm) – Brasenose Street, Cardwell
  • Saturday 08 February 2025 – (8am – 4pm) - Gregory Street and Clitheroe Street, Cardwell
  • Monday  10 February 2025 – (8am – 4pm) – Roma Street, Cardwell
  • Tuesday  11 February 2025 – (8am – 4pm) - Rural areas including (Ellerbeck, Carruchan, Kennedy)
  • Wednesday 12 February 2025 – (8am – 4pm) - Rural areas including (Murray Upper, Damper Creek and Bilyana)
  • Thursday 13 February 2025 – (8am – 4pm) – Panos Street, Winter Street and White Street, Cardwell

Important Information:

  • All domestic wet waste / dry waste should be deposited in wheelie bins and presented to the kerb for ordinary collection where possible;
  • All hazardous materials such as batteries, oil and chemicals should be self-managed and safely transported to the closest waste transfer station;
  • Some insurance providers advise residents not to move household flood waste until assessments are completed. Please check with your insurer to confirm if removal costs are covered before disposing of items;
  • Waste will only be collected from the Kerb. Collecting agency & staff will not enter Propeties or premises;
  • Only disaster-related material from the North and Far North Tropical Low, commencing 29 January 2025 will be collected; and
  • Only disaster-related material from inside and immediately outside the home is eligible.
