One Mile Creek, Port Hinchinbrook – Public Health & Safety Notice
Council urges all residents and community members to stay out of floodwaters and avoid contact at One Mile Creek Port Hinchinbrook due to sewage overflows caused by recent flooding.
While these overflows are highly diluted with stormwater, they still pose public and environmental health risks. Fishing and other water activities are strictly discouraged.
Additionally, severe erosion at One Mile Creek has damaged the road and cut off access to residences. Restoration efforts are complex, as essential services, including water, wastewater, and power infrastructure have been exposed.
