Who owns the Port Hinchinbrook Foxtail Cabins? What’s happening with them? Here’s what you need to know

We know the community is frustrated about the cabins. The recent flooding caused significant damage – knocking down fences, flooding the cabins, and displacing several across the site and into One Mile Creek.

Here’s what the Council is doing:

  • The cabins are on private land. The company that owned the property and Cabins has been de-registered.
  • Council has started enforcement action providing a show cause notice to each of the 13 lots to address the situation under the Planning Act 2016 (QLD).
  • Council have identified funding through the Community Relief Fund, part of a disaster recovery package supported by the Australian and Queensland governments (50:50) that ensure that ratepayers are not left footing the bill.

Council will continue to keep the community updated on this process.
